Would a gas main send those flaming metallic arcs of fire across the sky like in the pic? Maybe if the explosion took power lines with it.

You're looking at video from 1.5 to 2 miles away. Those arcs are the size of tractor trailers, travelling at a pretty significant speed.

Any news agency get updates on how the nuclear plant there is doing? It appears to be in the direction of the explosions and would be much closer than any video I've been able to find.
