I work in a fine dining restaurant-not affected yet. The rumors are that we are about to be replaced with iPads at every table. They will keep the young and cute servers (who usually get lower tips than the experienced servers) to run food and let the rest of us go. When a long time server said something about it affecting tips, the manager stated, “You’re not a doctor, you don’t need to be making $30 an hour.”
No one here wants minimum wage to go up as it only means less money for us. As it goes up, people can expect service to go down.
There is the real rub.
Doctors are expected to make $30 the Hour?
Yep
Doesn’t look good for you. See no 6, Chili’s been using them for a year. Not for the first order, but reorders and paying the tab.
These idiots opened up a can of worms and its not going to stop now.

I live in Sarasota, FL. There is a restaurant near where I live (Carmel) which gives customers an I pad to order from - it’s quick, easy and your order is never confused although you might be yourself. It works quite well.
That manager doesn’t realize docs don’t make 30 bucks an our. If they do, they are not doing it right, on any level.
Arrogance can be found anywhere, and you saw a great example of it.
Real...story. I work in a hospital...we get moonlighting Doc's here seeing patients.
I asked one, one day...how busy she was. She said she was getting real busy that day...making $35 a progress note. Meaning...she might see that patient two minutes and review the chart. Write a note..but no orders..and go on her way.
Or, she might get stuck for two hours..making that $35 too. And then again...she might have seen 50 patients times $35 during her 12 hr. shift.
Sounds like your manager needs to be replaced. If a waiter/waitress is getting $30/hour in tips, that means their service is pretty darned good. That brings the customers back, over and over, and wins new ones.
