Hmmm... So what is your favorite book, Jim?
I don’t think I have a favorite, but I tend to stay in the New Testament becasue that is where the revelation of the New Covenant of the grace of Jesus Christ is revealed which the prophets of old wished they could see. I love Romans because it is the definite statement and explanation of the gospel of the grace of Jesus Christ which so many miss.
I find that I love the book I’m reading currently. God blesses me and speaks to me and I learn so much even when I think I might not. For instance, right now I’m reading Daniel, which amazingly fits right into the discussion here.
James is probably my least favorite book becasue it seems to, but doesn’t, contradict the gospel of grace that we are no longer under the law but under grace and the new covenant. But I am learning that James is actually dealing with how one’s life affects others, which is not to be confused with our righteousness as a gift before God. It helps to remember that.
