I think both Jeb and Trump create a landslide for the DEMs. Conservatives sit out Jeb, establishment sits out Trump. Establishment would also sit out and work against Cruz. He’s not “one of them.”
We'll see if Trump actually has a more sophisticated strategery going on and if he can appeal to the 'rat emotional thinkers.
