It isn’t a personal thing and I’m not easily offended. But you know what the guidelines say about this being a pro-family forum.
And, despite my short tenure here, I care about how the forum appears to lurkers.
Hey, if you don’t care how the forum looks to lurkers who drop by, that’s your thing. Fine by me.
Maybe things have changed in 15 years since I joined, but it sounds like you don’t understand the lively history of FR.
Like I said, if JR feels it is out of place, he will delete it and that’s fine with me. I just feel that it perfectly captures the outrage at the GOP establishment. I have no personal issue with you or your sensibilities.
Peace.
I understand it. I’ve done a lot of archival reading when I can find it....love it, in fact.
Carry on.
LOL, you bow to a “Laztatorship” and you’re offended by the “c-word”?
Just what, exactly, do you think Laz brags about “hitting” when he would hit “that”?
Hmmm?
You think, perhaps, Laz is discussing pugilism? LOL!
Run along, Miss Priss, and go fan yourself.
Stuff it.
See post #7. JimRob likes it. But he DID edit the text.
It's more than "anger." I think I figured it out.
Trump is the essence of conservatism in that his candidacy represents probably next to "life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness," the most important conservative principle out there which is that
"We the people" govern this country. Not elites, not the DC insider establishment (regardless of party), not Fox, not CNN, not a tyranny of political correctness . . .
"WE the people." I think a huge amount of Trump's continued support is a poorly worded reaffirmation of this simple truth.
"We the people" don't care if you don't happen to like our choice. We don't care if he doesn't pass a ridiculous litmus test that you would ONLY apply to him so you can stick in Yeb Bush. We don't care if he doesn't speak "politi-speak." We don't care if he even says outrageous things. Because it's not up to you to tell us who we can elect. WE THE PEOPLE are in charge.
Bernie Sanders is tapping into this too. Yes, many of those people are mind-numbed Marxists, but even some of them sense that elections are meaningless because the voice of "we the people" is not even being heard---let alone ruling.
Trump is no academically-trained ideologue, and I don't think even he would realize this is really what his campaign is all about. He touches on it with immigration. And even if there is a certain recklessness in it, "we the people" have the right to be reckless. We elected Andrew Jackson deliberately to thwart the elites. We elected Abraham Lincoln, despite all of the more likely candidates, to challenge the Dem/Whig partnership to control government. We gave a Progressive like Teddy Roosevelt his first full term because he loved America even when his policies weren't always right. We elected Ronald Reagan against the wishes of every political pundit and party king-maker. And it's a long way off, and Trump has a long way to go, but so far he is capturing the key principle that we the people get to tell the elites to f off when we want to.
Noted, and any further posts from this source will be heavily edited by me and/or one sentence and a link.
Long time no see LS!
Thank you. This one should still be cleaned up.
I see that it was done. Thanks again.
Am I off base here?
The GOP establishment has spoken. We the people are to be welcomed back into the fold... on their terms only.
And in my very best dry John Wayne drawl, “That’ll be the day.”
No your analysis is pretty good LS. There is a huge (yuge?) rebellion in America. Trump for me is the vote of “no-confidence” in the GOP leadership. I’m still Cruz/Paul but I love the discord that Trump is causing.
Fiddlestix!
Female nature is to publicly “hate” men like Trump, but then secretly desire him.
It is what it is.
The .gif certainly lightens things up... At least for some.
