I’ve been following politics since Harry Truman. I know what I am talking about. Cruz is not going to be the candidate. He might be a good cabinet official and if he can somehow rehabilitate his image as a saboteur of the Senate he could later come back but he’s going to have to have a personality transplant.

Is he smart? Is the Pope Catholic? Of course. But IQ levels does not equal a president. He has to change and it is too late for this cycle. Do not confuse him with Reagan. Reagan was pragmatic and kept his eye on the ball. Cruz would rather tilt at windmills in a losing cause than clean up his act. Therefore he has no chance at the candidacy. It’s that simple.

It needs to become more acceptable to break the rules in favor of larger principle, because otherwise the nation will Mrs. Grundy itself to death in propriety paralysis.

Thank the Lord for putting Trump on the scene to do just that. It could shake things loose enough to overcome the hypnotic narrative of propriety.
