I think DinW is correct in pointing out that a series of mother’s boyfriends in a household is a recipe for disaster. The statistics confirm this, and the reality behind those statistics is worse still. It also leads - routinely - to early sexual activity for the girls of the family, and they are socialised into it, they don’t have much choice about that.

I have yet to figure out how to post a link on my Xoom but I am sure you can find it with Google.

The TED talk is by Leslie Morgan Steiner who got her undergrad degree at Harvard, and is called “Why domestic violence victims don’t leave”.

I was trying to learn about domestic violence after my coworker was killed.
She had a graduate degree in a complex science and was an intelligent fun
charismatic person with four terrific kids from 3-15. Well known and liked in the community, began a soccer league, was voted mother of the year or something in some local contest.

Of course a series of boyfriends is not great but it was not that which caused the murders. It was leaving the boyfriend who killed them all.
