Why would that not make any sense to you? Oscar Wilde, whose been dead for over 100 years now, observed: The only thing worse than people talking about you is people not talking about you.

Then there is the old show business canard: No publicity is bad publicity

The media turned politics into reality television, and now a bona fide reality television star, who understands how the game is played, has them flummoxed. He knows he is playing the "villain", but guess what? The villain gets the ratings! As long as he gets all of the attention, he harms the other candidates who are spending money to get their message out.

Think of it this way. In each week there are only 3 slots for about 5 political shows each. That is 15 chances for a political candidate, or their surrogates, to pitch themselves to the American people. Trump just sucked up 3 of the 15 slots (a full 20%) for himself. Even if he doesn't add to his poll numbers, he just blocked out three other candidates from adding to theirs. And Trump has the money (which he doesn't have to spend due to the free publicity) to outlast most of the others.

This is a huge move for Trump.

I don’t watch these shows, so is he the only one on the program for the entire hour? If so - what a stroke of genius. The others had to vie for time at Red State, and he gets the whole time to himself. Hopefully, he’ll be able to seriously discuss the issues which he was denied during the debate. To be fair - none of them got to go into much detail. That debate forum was a sham.

Well, he's on 3 of 4 Sunday shows. I don't understand how that relates to "No publicity is bad publicity"

If, or when, Trump drops out every candidate, from both parties, will be calling him asking for money and an endorsement.

Even better ASB, Al Sharpton can't get a word in edge wise, does anyone notice how that whole cabal has gone silent as The Donald dominates the airwaves? For that one reason alone, he is the best thing that has happened to TV in a long time...
