One small problem, that only applies to state offices. Just as the states have no say in the federal offices in regards to term limits, they have no say in this federal office as well.
“If he wins the Republican nomination is the GOPe going to run a third party candidate?”
They’ll probably tell the delegates not to vote for him, even though the people did.
That would make me mad enough to vote 3rd party for him. Or write him in.
And I’m backing Cruz now.
Yep, I am in Dayton, and typical that there is more effort by Husted to keep Trump off than to enforce voter ID laws to keep Dems from voting multiple times.
And a “crippled” Trump would be an even worse hazard of spoilerdom.
Interesting.
Do you mean the GOPe which is so used to losing and nominating losers? Why would they go to all that trouble when they could just support the Dims?
I can’t see this law impacting unless Trump qualified for the March 2016 Ohio primary, and after that decided to run under another banner.
Regardless, it does not matter. A Trump independent candidacy would not be about winning. I do not think any 3rd party run will ever win, because the Democrats can consistently get 34% to the polls.
Even independent leftists like Nader tend to draw college educated white progressives, not the Dems core of unions, minorities, etc.
Of course they will. Laws are not for the Uni-Party.
dear z-taxman,
re: “Unconstitutional”.
I agree, but must remind folks that inside state politics, can be a very different field, than national politics.
I’m 50/50 on Trump making it a third party, because there are enough folks, and will be more folks, as the-queer-in-charge’s time grows shorter, and his deeds stink even more, without any voice from Congress, except ‘yessa, massah’.
REally?
So, Trump isn’t still saying he might run 3rd party?
But, but, but...
He lived in NY. So what that he was friends with Hillay. I am sure many in the GOP are. Besides, he is being kinda hard on her now, remember?
Also, don’t forget he was contacted by Bill before he decided to run.....watch the spinning for Trump to begin
Could it be that the days of the two-party system is coming to a close? Could we very well go the way of other countries that do muti-political parties?
Keep in mind this is a Federal Election, not a state election. I’m not sure how
the state laws apply to and control a federal election. I’m not even close to being
a lawyer but there may be a difference between the applications. I know that Trump
has filed the FEC Federal Form 2 which is required of all candidates running for President.
Indeed. This Uniparty crap needs to end.
They’ll do what they’ve always done; given tacit or complete support for the Democrat.
>>Unconstitutional.
“It’s just a goddamned piece of paper”
Fool us once, shame on Shrub, fool us twice...
the sore losers seem to be the ones that want to guarantee that trump can’t run against Jeb Bush.
I don’t care. If it’s Jeb, I’ll vote for any alternative.
Good luck with that in court. Until he has officially filed papers as a candidate in that state, he isn’t bound by anything. And I’m sure he’s not stupid enough to do that until he has made a final choice one way or the other.
