Donald Trump is having a meltdown after Megyn Kelly and Fox News cut him to pieces during the debate

Real-estate magnate Donald Trump reamed Fox News moderators and associates during a lengthy Twitter rant early Friday morning, hours after the first Republican presidential debate.

Trump went off on moderator Megyn Kelly, who he said "bombed." Kelly had perhaps the most contentious exchange of the night with Trump when she asked him about a slew of past offensive comments toward women.

And Trump had harsh words for Republican pollster Frank Luntz, who conducted a focus group of Republican voters that gave Trump brutal reviews after the debate. He called Luntz a "clown" and a "slob."

Trump cited two polls frequently during his rant — one from The Drudge Report, in which 50% of its readers chose him as the winner, and another from Time that found similar results.

Trump also spent a good chunk of time retweeting people who praised his performance. One of those tweets he quoted had bashed Kelly and referred to her as a "bimbo."

Here's (most of) the rant:

The moderators targeted Trump from the get-go with the kind of provocative, specific questions the GOP front-runner hasn't faced much on the campaign trail. The debate started with moderator Bret Baier asking all 10 candidates onstage whether they would pledge to back the eventual nominee. Trump was the only one who refused to take the pledge.

"I cannot say I have to respect the person that — if it's not me — the person that wins," Trump said.

I like Trump. Always have. But calling Luntz’ group names is in the same category as McCain calling Trump supporters “crazies”.

I agree the fox inquisitions were more concerned about preening and making themselves the center of the inquisition than conducting a debate there was very little debate. Wallace and Kelly were insufferable partisan hacks, Bier was tolerable. Hemmer and Martha in the first debate were far superior.

Trump was not prepared, Cruz, Carson and the Rube did well. Bush was tossed softball after softball and flubbed them everyone. My wife turned to me after he answered one question and said I thought W was supposed to be the dumb one!

Really put out with Fox, they put on a show for their moderators and the candidates were an afterthought.

Luntz’s Dunces were a factor long before last night.

Thin-skinned Donald, doing what he does best.

And people here think he’s Presidential material?

Really? I mean, seriously?

Liberals like BI are just not used to anyone fighting back. Everyone is supposed to take it and apologize. Trump doesn’t!

Real presidential material here lol. Give it a rest Donald. You still have Greta and Hannity on Fox to slober over you on a regular basis.

Late night twitter raging is more suited to some goofy realityTV star......oh yeah.

Yes, I’m listening...and it’s funny that I was thinking the same thing as you are about 20 minutes into the show. Rush (re: the debate) is all over the place, rambling, meandering, not taking a stand on anything, not making any cogent courageous points....and definitely off his game.
He’s not only confused, he’s a total jelly fish, weak and floating limply on a sea of incoherence.

Did the Murdoch sons take over his network, also?

I’m really disappointed; I was really looking forward to today’s show. What an absolute letdown!

Trump’s reactions prove the winner of the debate last night was Megyn Kelly. She pushed his buttons and did so unfairly at times, and as a result he’s going off online.

A President needs to be able to deal with jerks, whether its the media, the other party, or leaders of other countries. If he acts like this over some crappy debate questions, what will he do as President when Putin starts demeaning him to gain points in his own polling?

I’m all for giving as good as you give, but as a President you need to have thick skin and put the BS aside. Kelly set a trap for Trump and he fell right in.

I don’t like intra-Party debates and never will, they are counter-productive.

Did you actually watch the morons in the focus group? Do you believe they were actually Trump supporters before the debate, and changed their minds? They were idiots or shills or both.

Megyn Kelley killed her career. She will have to go to a different network.

I am sick and tired of the smarmy, always smiling, always saying just what they think someone WANTS to hear, politicans that have infested Washington for past several years...

We need someone who isn’t afraid to hurt feelings...someone who says what THEY believe, not what the others WANT to hear...

I would choose either Trump or Cruz in a heartbeat....

Your concern has been noted....as has your comment that parrots exactly what I’ve seen, today, on the lefty sites.

BTW, welcome to Free Republic.

Rupert has likely already extended her contract and transferred her big hit bonus, into her account.

She should be, but she won’t go anywhere. Heck, look how long they’ve maintained their romance with Karl Rove.

Her ratings are going to tank. If Murdoch is willing to lose money, then we should be asking what he has to gain.
