Fox News Couldn't Kill Trump's Momentum, Made Him Stronger

A few hours before Thursday’s Fox News debate, a friend of Donald Trump’s confided to me that Trump was nervous. Not about the competition — he could handle them. No, Trump worried about Fox News, and in particular, debate moderator Megyn Kelly. She’d been hammering him all week on her show, and he was certain she was out to get him.

He had canceled a Fox News appearance on Monday night, the friend said, in order to avoid her. (Trump’s spokeswoman wouldn’t confirm or deny this.)

It turns out Trump was right. His toughest opponents Thursday night weren’t the candidates up on stage, but the Fox News moderators, who went right after him — none with more gusto than Kelly.

Kelly, the whip-smart queen of Fox News' blonde stunners, went straight for the jugular. "You've called women you don't like fat pigs, dogs, slobs and disgusting animals," she admonished Trump. "Does that sound to you like the temperament of a man we should elect as president?"

But Trump saw her coming a mile away and cut her off. "Only Rosie O’Donnell," he barked, drawing cheers from the crowd.

When Kelly tried to point out that he had insulted more women than O’Donnell, Trump, as he would all night, steamrolled right past her. "The big problem this country has is being politically correct," Trump practically shouted, invoking conservatives’ favorite term of disdain. "I’ve been challenged by so many people and I don't frankly have time for total political correctness and to be honest with you this country doesn't have time either." The crowd went wild.

Maybe they were cheering because the question was apropos of something Rachel Maddow would ask, and they were, after all, Republicans......

Megyn Kelly had an ax to grind with Trump and attacked him BEFORE the debate even started. During the debate she continued all while throwing up “softballs: to senor el Jebbo. Fox News, please explain to me how is that “Fair and Balanced”?

No one can have a “plan” in a 60 second response.

Cruz also didn’t lay out a “plan” but he did tell the world Obama and Clinton have destroyed the country. Trump did the same thing.

Fox could care less about giving Cruz tough questions because they think he has no chance at the nomination. Let him pick up steam and start polling ahead of their boy Jebbie and see how fast they try to destroy him.

Fox is now no different than any other news network. They have gone Elitist.

No, flash polls are polls that polling companies do right after a debate.

I was embarrassed for Fox. They showed complete bias against Trump.

I wasn't embarrassed, I was pissed off at Megyn Kelly for her obvious nasty attitude towards Trump. That setup was totally uncalled for. I used to respect her intelligence and I have watched FOX News for years.

I'm done with FOX News.

After last night's attempted ambush on the GOP frontrunner I hope it opens the eyes of anyone who still thinks Fox News is "fair and balanced". Rachel Maddow might as well been moderating the "debate". What a pathetic, liberal joke Fox News has morphed into.

Yea, verily yea.

""Yes I am a big government, pro-government healthcare kind of guy who thinks paying politicians for favors is good business!"

"I will tell you that our system is broken. I gave to many people, before this, before two months ago, I was a businessman. I give to everybody. When they call, I give.

And do you know what?

When I need something from them two years later, three years later, I call them, they are there for me.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: So what did you get?

TRUMP: And that’s a broken system.

UNIDENTIFIED MALE: What did you get from Hillary Clinton and Nancy Pelosi?

TRUMP: Well, I’ll tell you what, with Hillary Clinton, I said be at my wedding and she came to my wedding.

You know why?

She didn’t have a choice because I gave. I gave to a foundation that, frankly, that foundation is supposed to do good. I didn’t know her money would be used on private jets going all over the world. It was.

Megyn Kelly seemed to genuinely enjoy channeling her inner Rachel Maddow. IMHO, she was the big loser last night.

Both Fox and Megyn were the big losers last night. Donald came out ahead.

Trump is just saying what people want to hear. Get’s people interested in voting again. I would imagine come convention time, he’ll drop out and endorse Cruz.

"Not sure I totally agree. The questions they threw at him weren’t “what are your plans for....”, “how would you....” Instead the questions were designed to put him on the defensive and not give the opportunity to share ideas, policies, etc."

Exactly. Trump's attendance is what warranted the huge arena and commanded the high viewer ratings, all because folks wanted to hear a little more from him on policy. But noOOOooo. Trump gets questions from an angry Kelly about his behavior on a TV show.

Their excuse ? He would have gotten these questions anyway. Fine let the (more) left leaning media pick the low hanging fruit. All Fox did was prove they are no better than the worst out there.

Am I the only one noticing that NOBODY is talking about Jeb Bush, the Number Two guy behind Trump going into the Debate?

Yes, he pays for them. The others take from him, or someone else.

Who is the WHORE...the one who pays or the one who takes the money?

We are sick of being served the same old recycled pile of meadow muffins in various disguises as they break down, bits fall off, and they grow ever less appealing by the day. It has become clear that we need a change of direction in this country, and the guy willing to call bull biscuits is Donald Trump. We’re so grateful, that imitation being the sincerest form of flattery, I think he may yet spawn a new hair style fad!

Did you hear the applause he got on PC, from the same people who had moments before booed him?!

I’ve often wondered why so many think this washed up ambulance-chasing lawyer Megyn Kelly is so hot. Can you imagine this toothpick without make-up? Nothing pretty about her. The best looking woman on Fox News is Shannon Bream and she’s also the smartest.

His questions were not designed to elicit ideas.

I am more in the Cruz camp than in Trump’s. That said, Trump has been pointing out some elephants in the room that the GOPe does not want or have the backbone to deal with. Could Trump put aside some of his ego to be Cruz’ running mate? The pairing could be “good cop/bad cop”.

It would have probably hurt Trump, but I would have liked him to ask her a question.
