I don’t know if the following is true but I’ve heard it all my life:
Truman was on a whistle stop tour and a guy asked him “Why are you a democrat?”
Truman said “Because my grandfather was a democrat and my father was a democrat.”
The mans asked “If my grandfather was a republican and my father was a republican would that make me a republican?”
Truman replied “No. That would make you a son of a bitch.”
True story or not I laughed :)
