Cruz was absolutely in control when they DID bother to go to him. He looked and sounded extremely presidential.
So they made sure to freeze him out and concentrate on the three ring circus. It’s quite telling.

They gave lesser time to a lot of the candidates, not just Cruz. If they wanted to freeze him out, Luntz would not have praised him so much.
