The unwritten rule in monster movies is not to show the whole monster until at least halfway in so the audience feels a growing sense of dread.
It didnt work that way Thursday night. Donald Trump appeared onstage the second the debate started.
He stumbled out of the gate, refusing to pledge to support the Republican nominee and leaving open the door that he might run as an independent in the general election.
He didnt just say it; he said it with his patented obnoxious, egotistic high-school swagger.
When Megyn Kelly threw at him a half-dozen insulting things hes said over the years about women statements no self-respecting conservative parent would let his or her son make about a young woman Trump laughed it off and attacked Kelly, beloved by much of the audience.
This is what Trump does: When people challenge him, he calls them stupid idiots. Anyone watching had to ask themselves: Honestly, how can a man with this temperament lead America? Negotiate budgets, make sober national security decisions, host state dinners?

“Trump laughed it off and attacked Kelly, beloved by much of the audience.
This brings up a good point.. who were these people in the audience? Was the room stacked with paid partisans, as any liberal town hall meeting?
I appreciate his honesty and staying true to his opinion in sprite of the tremendous pressure to conform and be PC correct.
Seriously, Greenman?
You just described Obama, and he has been President for the last 6.5 years.
“The next time America sees her hateful leftist face, it should be at Subway when she is making us a sandwich.”
She calls it the way she sees it. Would you have preferred she asked Trump if he was a tree what tree would he be and why? Because that’s what they will be asking on the left.
I do think this debate was set up as an ambush of Trump. Problem is you cannot verbally ambush someone who has more firepower. The Fox team tried to pull a Alinsky on Trump and Trump used Alinsky and responded.
Good for him.
Must be a “lunatics only” thread.
Megyn Kelly a leftist?
Trump is the most left of at least 15 of the GOP candidates. BILL CLINTON has been urging him to run.
Meg gay marriage loving Kelly is a liberal.
Pssst, it’s not the job of the Fox hosts to be “nice” to the candidates, but to vet them as best they can.
Who are the Socialists? The candidate in favor of single payer health care?
The moderators could have let the candidates present their own policy positions and then let the other candidates challenge it.
Instead, the moderators asked skewed interpretations of one's position and then asked the others what's wrong with it. Not even, do you agree with that? One time it was "Was he lying?"
It was their job to manage the forum, but it was the job of the candidates themselves to vet each other.
The Fox moderators inserted themselves into the debate and ended up just getting in the way.

Shouldn’t this question be asked of Mr. Obama?
“This is what Trump does: When people challenge him, he calls them stupid idiots. Anyone watching had to ask themselves: Honestly, how can a man with this temperament lead America? “
In the old days, before men embraced their inner homo, we asked “how can he not”.
‘BILL CLINTON has been urging him to run.’
“Former President Bill Clinton, husband of the current Democratic presidential frontrunner, spoke by phone to Donald Trump, the Republican frontrunner, before Trump’s June announcement, The Washington Post reports.
Associates to both Clinton and Trump have confirmed the call occurred in late May, though no specific date was given, according to the Post. The sources also said Trump’s presidential campaign was not discussed.”
