Well I did say "in some circles." When permitted to speak Ted did great, everything our fury could wish for. But doing that and also coming across as a polite, nice person works across a broader spectrum of prospective voters than uncontrolled anger. There are plenty of us in Network (1976) mode politically. But there are also are many (annoyingly many to the former crowd) who don't like the status quo, but are turned off any approach exceeding victorian tea party etiquette. I suspect many of Carson's admirers fall in that category. Some of them, historically annoyingly, can be lured to vote for the dark side if the media calling conservative alternatives 'extremists" often enough keeps them from hearing the conservative message. Cruz is trying to position himself as a fall back option for all GOP voters except the hardcore RINOs. Also, in the current environment being seen as a victim and target of the media (I've seen multiple articles mentioning Cruz didn't get his fair share or air time) draws more attention to his campaign.
