Re: “This is the worst “debate” I have ever seen.”

To be fair, I don’t think there has been a real debate on TV for at least 40 years, but if the point of a debate is to inform the voters what the candidates believe on the important issues of the day, then this definitely didn’t do that. It was intended to provoke, to create news/controversy, not inform.

Of course the candidates will get hostile, gotcha questions in the press and on their campaign stump speeches, but what does that have to do with a supposedly serious debate. What did any of us learn about what these men really believe about foreign policy, illegal immigration, the economy that we didn’t know before? Not much.
