“If they are homeless they do not have access to medications.”

Well many of them aren’t homeless, and the ones that are often do have access to their medication.

What happens is that they start feeling better and then stop taking the medication. This is very common.

Yes it is. Repeated hospitalization is the only answer

My step-niece is like that. I monitor her Facebook page just to see if she is complying with her drug regimen. It’s pretty easy to tell from her posts if she is taking her drugs. Over the course of a few days, her posts get incoherent. I remind her to start taking her meds, and she sometimes does.
