For Iran vote, Obama seeks GOP ally (guess who??)

With Senate Democrats locking down more support to prevent the two-thirds majority needed to block a nuclear deal with Iran, President Barack Obama is concentrating on another goal — picking off at least one Republican to support it.

He is down to one target: Arizona Sen. Jeff Flake.

Two weeks ago, Flake found himself surrounded by Democrats on Air Force Once headed to Africa, having joined Obama for his first trip to the continent while in office. The in-flight entertainment was obvious from the moment the trip was announced: a long, laborious discussion of the Iran deal.

Obama’s pursuit of Flake, a rock-ribbed fiscal conservative who’s broken with his party on foreign policy in the past, shows how far the president is willing to go to secure his legacy-defining nuclear agreement. Unlike most of his GOP colleagues, Flake is still undecided on the deal, and he indicated in a Tuesday interview there was still a possibility he could be a yes.

Obama can always find "cooperating" "compromising" "pragmatic" "common-sense" republicans to help him "govern" and "get things done"

“Flake” is suitably named.

McCain and Rubio won’t go along with this treachery.

Collins is always “iffy.”

What a huge disappointment he’s been. Everybody attacks Rubio (and I agree) for flipping one time, and Flake’s been a complete RINO.

To think, he was supported by Senate Conservatives Fund when he was in a nip and tuck race against Carmona. I am not sure his election was a win.

Like Schumer, he's holding out to see which side will offer the biggest payoff for his vote.

I agree with you completely.

Flake is a total disgrace.

He fooled almost everyone, if not everyone, who voted for him.

McCain and Flake — Arizona has gone to the dark side. Guess it is all those liberals moving out of Calif to Az to get away from the Calif insanity. Yet, they vote for the same things again in Az that they were trying to get away from. Lived in Az for five years and saw this all the time.
