Citizen seems to notice a police officer driving around and around his neighborhood while he is working on his boat in his driveway.

Police officer doesn't like being filmed by someone in his own yard and decides to stop and pull gun on him.

Oh. There you are--more constitutionalists and real ones at that. Are civilian police going to pull their weapons on real soldiers more often for the crime of being constitutionalists?

Are police going to order everyone to take their hands out of their pockets and draw on those who don't?

More people need to be finding out more about the pathologies of their most influential local constituents (government-linked businesses). That's where some of the problems begin. Lobby organizations for local governments should also receive some scrutiny.

Criminals neglect to consider consequences (see criminology). Lose at public affairs, and all will be lost. Pride goes before a fall.

He honestly seemed like a bit of a nut, and in the cop’s place, unless I was absolutely certain he was unarmed, I would be genuinely concered that the guy might pull a gun and shoot me or a knife and charge me.

How about you stop trying to get into the cop's head on feeling threatened, and try getting into his head on why he approached this guy under color of authority in the first place?

I don’t know why he approached him. I would love to find out so we could intelligently discuss that, rather than speculate.

However, I don’t think he needed much of a reason to approach and when the guy refused the reasonable and minimally intrusive instruction to take his hand out of his pocket and immediately became agitated, the officer had a totally valid reason to fear for his safety. Unholstering his gun seemed like a reasonable precaution to prepare himself in the event he needed to escalate use of force. Despite the taper contuing to yelling in a confrontationial manner and being uncooperative, the officer chose not to escalate and actually deescalated the situation.

Bull! The guy became agitated because the cop immediately took up a low-ready firing position after his order was refused.

Only after the taper told the cop he had no reason to draw his weapon did the cop start to lose confidence in his actions and release his supporting hand.

He drew and took up a low-ready posture. That is NOT the same as "unholstering" his weapon.

Yeah, after he was told the tape was going out over Youtube. And lets be clear here, the cop is the one that initiated a confrontation, any reasonable man would be uncooperative with suffering battery under color of law.

Let's put the ignorance to the test by having a policeman(*) walk down a sidewalk and order all passersby to take their hands out of their pockets. If they refuse to do so, the policeman(*) will pull his weapon in reaction to their disobedience.

The two errors are lack of cause and initiating or threatening use of deadly force without being attacked or threatened with deadly force. Legalize those policy errors, and they'll eventually be proven to be deleterious anyway.

Many government-employed psychs and lawyers are notoriously mental or criminal, too.

He said it in a calm, but firm voice. Watch the video again, the officer never raises his voice and speaks in a calm, firm, professional manner throughout the encounter.

Turns out last year there were 12,942,453 attacks on police by people who were standing next to their cars in their driveways.

11,042,092 were with weapons.
