Actually, cronyism can indeed turn us into Venezuela - or any banana republic - so don’t fool yourself. Continued massive illegal immigration could too.
Venezuela is a special case. They are trapped in tyranny because inbred, unskilled, illiterate masses support it. We are importing those same people here by the millions. It is just a matter of time.
