He was perhaps the greatest President of all....and maybe some around here would call him a RINO, but not too many - after all, it was the conservative base who elevated him. If half the base were calling him a RINO, or the equivalent at the time - he would have never emerged.
FYI I was very early to the Reagan train...like I was to the Palin train, the tea party train (VERY EARLY) and the Cruz train.....etc....heck, I was criticizing John McCain as early as 1992 and Rove as early as 2001.
I still don't buy the Reagan Trump analogy.

Trump is no Reagan but Reagan was not as conservative as we all try to remember him. He was simply a good patriotic American who followed the Constitution and did the right thing in tough times.
Reagan was also a problem solver and a statesman. The last time I felt enthused about voting was for Reagan.
Trump is a problem solver. Statesman? Who knows? He is also not afraid to take action. We need an action oriented problem solver in the Whitehouse. Otherwise this country is toast. That’s why he and Cruz are the only two that stand out.
If you watched the candidate forum in NH last night as did I you would have seen a lot of familiar old faces spewing the same old stuff. None of them when asked could name even one rogue or unnecessary govt agency they could bring themselves to shutter. I can name five. That’s when I realized Trump is right they are all talk and no action.
