the problem is that javascript is actually needed for almost any web page that you need to interact with, like any site you want to login to and post to or buy stuff from like amazon.com, reading email, etc., so simply turning off javascript isn’t necessarily a great solution if you use the web a lot for a lot of different purposes.
Yeah, I just went to Amazon and you are right. You can browse fine, but to access your account you need Java. Still, it’s not hard to turn off and on again when you need it.
