I usually like Ted but these comments are moronic. And that is being generous.

The lion had a tracking collar on and was in a protected area. It was lured out of said protected area with the carcass of a dead animal and killed.

Anyone who justifies such a “hunt” as either ethical or moral has rocks in their head. Oh, and one can be outraged at BOTH the lion and Planned Parenthood. It is not an either/or proposition.

I haven’t been following this story closely, but if that info is correct, then I agree that this was a criminal act. Even if the dentist wasn’t aware of the details of the luring, I would guess that he’s still culpable. This doesn’t rise to the level of abortion, but still a sad event. We do have a responsibility to help preserve endangered species, as well as all Gods creatures.

“The lion had a tracking collar on and was in a protected area. It was lured out of said protected area with the carcass of a dead animal and killed.”

Baiting big cats is an accepted and time honored way to hunt them. Big game animals leave protected areas all the time. When they leave, they are fair game.

You make is sound as if the hunters walked up to the lion, held a steak under its nose and gradually and carefully “lured” it carefully, and unwillingly, out of the reserve.

Most likely, the lion considered part of the area outside the reserve part of its territory, and was attracted to the bait.

Neither of us know exactly what happened.

But, most collared lions that are killed by hunters in Zimbabwe are considered to have been killed legally.

2.of the 65 or so lions that have been collard in matabeleland north ( hwange, gwaai,Victoria falls, etc) in the past decade or so, 35 have died, with 24 of these being shot by either sport hunters, on problem animal control - cattle killers, man eaters etc . In the event one is killed, it’s professional to return the collard to the research organization with date, location etc the animal was killed etc
