Nathan, I usually admire your posts, that typically reflect a keen historical knowledge and seemingly well researched thoughts. I am admittedly puzzled by your comments about Trump.
I’ve studied the man’s (Trump’s) history enough to know that he’s head and shoulders above a.) 0bie and the Dims and b.) The GOPe.
Trump’s development business, (just like ALL of the privately owned business in this country) is dependent upon a strong, free-market economy....something the Dims NOR the GOPe, led by Midge and Boehner have yet to promote.
We’ve given the GOP chances in the last THREE elections to STOP 0bama’s socialism. They’ve done NOTHING except give him a rubber stamp. Trump loves this country. I see him having the guts and wherewithal to do what ever it takes to turn this ship around to the betterment of ALL Americans.
I may be eating my words, should he prove the naysayers right, and decide to get out of the race. I’ll be the first to accept my mistake, should he do that. But, he’s beholden to NO ONE...no groups, lobbyists, etc. He can’t be bought. Trump certainly doesn’t need this job to promote his (nonexistent) political career, or his personal career. He’s putting everything on the line, to stop the destructive path the Progressive/Marxists - in both parties - have put this nation on.
Here’s a thread on some fascinating Trump family history. A real American success story....

Just my 2¢
I do not believe the choice is between Donald Trump or the Republican establishment. I believe the choice is between Donald Trump and Cruz or Walker. At least we on this forum who are relatively more educated than the run of conservatives, certainly more educated than Republicans, and undoubtedly more educated than the general electorate, we who are acutely aware of the sins of the Republican establishment, ought to be able to differentiate between Ted Cruz and Mitch McConnell or Scott Walker and John Boehner.
We cannot judge candidates by their rhetoric alone we must consult their biography, their history, their associations. We knew what Barack Obama was long before he was elected simply by reviewing these elements of his biography. We found these tools to be reliable indicators. Why should we abandon the tried-and-true for a hope?
There are plenty of good alternatives to Trump, good conservative men, he is not the only alternative to the establishment.
