Thanks for the kind words!

One slight disagreement. The term NeoCon did not have a very respectable origin or history and has now been distorted to the point where everyone you can imagine can be "accused" of being a boogeyman and a "NeoCon."

Originally, "NeoCon" was a thinly veiled sneer against some distinguished liberal scholars, writers and leaders (mostly but not all Jewish by ancestry and some by faith) who accepted that the Democrat Party with which they had been associated all their lives had taken an unacceptable and probably permanent turn to communism with the nomination of George McGovern in 1972. They were correct. They were also defense hawks and strong supporters of American support for Israel.

Their ranks included Norman Podhoretz, Midge Decter, Irving Kristol, Gertrude Himmelfarb, Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan (somewhat Catholic by ancestry who grew up a pugnacious Irishmen in Hell's Kitchen in Manhattan) and who remained a Democrat to fight the reds within), Jeanne Kirkpatick who became Reagan's Ambassador to the UN after being Hubert Humphrey's foreign policy advisor, Donald Kagan who had also been a Humphrey adviser but became a rabid supporter of Reagan and still became Dean of Yale College, and many others of whom Senator Henry "Scoop" Jackson comes to mind. These folks were great assets to the GOP, even Moynihan and Jackson whose deaths left their followers as political orphans who often gravitated to the Republican side.

These folks were also major intellects which is a lot more than Trump can say. He has not earned and probably won't earn the right to be called a "neo-con." Many neo-cons are reviled by both the left and by paleocons (1930s style Neville Chamberlain admiring isolationists who want to stick their heads in the sand in the hope that our enemies won't notice us). Think a Munich for the 21st century or Obozo's attempted surrender to the Islamofascist Mullahs of Iran. Now Trump won't surrender to Iran but he is no conservative and no neo-conservative.

Trump IS certainly a RINO who is mesmerizing all too many good folks fed up with politicians who will be severely disappointed to find out that Trump is also a politician.

God bless you and yours!

Thank you for the clarification, I thought the term meant Newly minted conservatives that had not passed the test of time, ones that spouted the terms but to them it was merely rhetoric to ingratiate themselves in with the likes of Buckley and company.
