The headline, as explained in the thread, is misleading. We’ve had long threads already about this. Trump is talking about 100 percent deportation, and only those who are qualified— who are not criminals presumably either in their own country or ours— will get an expedited process to return. That’s Trump’s answer to those accusing his deportation plan “cold.” This is not a bad position.
He’s moved the Overton Window quite a bit. No one was willing to say deport before!
The window can still be moved a little more.
Trump can say what he wants and we can want what we want but 100% deportation is just not going to happen, especially for those who have had kids here and whose families would be split up. It would tie up the courts for years and cost hundreds of billions more than any benefits the gainfully employed now provide.
