“we have traded Jesus Christ for a lion.”

The lion as an image of Christ came first.

Maybe we can show people, that their concern for the lion came because of the True Lion’s concern for them and for the unborn.

Show them the Lion and the Lamb, show them Aslan, etc. Proudly.

They made this lion an icon. Imagery is more powerful than words, and the image of the noble lion has already been given meaning by Christ. Maybe they even half way sort of see that?? Or can? Praying.

Very beautifully put,AMDG. I don’t know why so many are so afraid to even provisionally join forces emotionally with PETA or Hollywood on this one issue. Walter Palmer’s murder for sport of an innocent and beautiful “beast” is all of a piece with Planned Parenthood’s murder for profit of the innocent baby AND the sale of body parts (getting paid on both ends, as it were)In the White “Hunter”’s case, there was profit involved too-—someone made 50,000 bucks out of it. This is not an “either/or” situation, but all sides have their own agendas to push, don’t they? No one can see that the culture of death makes both abortion for profit and social thinning-of-the-herd and the murder of Cecil the Lion inevitable , and predictable. Let’s not throw out the Lion with the bathwater. And DON’T forget these particular details of Cecil’s murder: Palmer was unsuccessful at killing him with a bow and arrow, so the lion stumbled around for nearly two days, wounded, and they finally found him, and finished him off with a GUN. THEN, they SKINNED HIM AND BEHEADED HIM, just like the ISIS barbarians have been doing to other innocents for MONTHS. Another beheading. Subliminally I wouldn’t be surprised to find out this pushed a lot of people over the edge, who can’t allow themselves to wrestle with the horrors of ISIS. Cecil then becomes a symbolic stand-in for all the current horrors of our vexing and profoundly sad world,

I see your point and like the Revelation 5/Genesis 49 typology.

However, I think the reason they are overly concerned for the Lion (which many Africans look at as dinner) is because they have left off the natural affection of God and babies.
