Don’t Worry, TrumpMania Will Fade Away

Like Jonathan S. Tobin at Commentary, I have little doubt that TrumpMania will soon fade away. There has always been a willingness among a part of the electorate to get behind an angry outsider, but when push comes to shove, even those voters opt for a candidate they can trust. Trump simply isn’t that guy. Tobin’s third argument, which I consider to be the most important one, is as follows:

"Third, the assumption on the part of some that a public that has been watching Trump on TV for years already knows all it cares to learn about the man is equally unfounded. I doubt that most of those on the right applauding his outrageous act are aware of Trump’s long history of backing for liberal causes and even his financial support for Hillary Clinton’s Senate campaigns and their family charity that operates as a political slush fund for the former first couple."

Another good argument:

"Fourth, as I noted last week, the basic culture of American democracy is something that is designed to trip up demagogues. This wouldn’t be the first case of populism run amuck in American history and there are some obvious examples of outlier figures having a major impact on the outcome of elections."

t’s very simple. When it boils down to it, Trump is not actually conservative. He has, all throughout his life, supported Democrats. Two of the most important recipients of his support (financial and otherwise) are Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton. There’s no chance in hell that the conservative base will let him get away with that. Of course there are some who argue that Ronald Reagan “was originally a Democrat as well,” but that comparison doesn’t hold. Reagan broke quite visibly with the Democrats and attacked them ruthlessly.

Trump will fade when the GOPe fields a passionate conservative candidate.

In other words, when Hell freezes over.

Can I like what he is doing and saying now, without trusting the man to run the country?

Yes you can. The author is pretty much summing that up with the article; for ex: Trump does have a messy history with democrats.

If you get your wish you will find out what a totally unimpeded liberal could do to this country. Risky experiment.

Say what?
I thought we were all just about destroyed now, with what the unimpeded ignorant liberal in the Africa House has done America for the last 7 years...

So cut and paste the same comment on three threads weaving Mitt Walker into the scenario as an anti amnesty guy. Good luck with your mission. :-)

you want a do over on that statement ?

Maybe it's a Freudian slip. Maybe in his mind Obama isn't as bad as Trump would be.

If you’re fed up with the “wet finger in the wind” flip-flopping hacks and looking for consistency in a candidate who loves this country, check out this 3 minute video from 27 YEARS AGO! Seems that Donald — like most of the rest of us — understands that things have become so bad that he HAD to go for it!
TAKE THAT, ESTABLISHMENT GOP!!

Then why, if trump is such a liberal, does the MSM give him such flack?

Can’t figure why you would think Trump would select Walker as a running mate. Trump was the first candidate to point out the problems in Wisconsin and he was spot on.

No my point was that Trump and Walker have been the only ones that have made illegal immigration and issue and talked about stopping illegal immigration or reducing legal 3rd world immigration.

Immigration is the most important issue as that decides all other issues. since their 1965 immigration act democrats have been importing 70 million voters for their socialist policies, 70 million 3rd world immigrants legal and illegal from the 3rd world into the USA. this is why the country moved to the left.

the other politicians besides trump or walker are actully for more immigrants as their support of obama trade and H1B visas show. obamatrade allows trade in services which allows companies to import 3rd world workers directly from the 3rd world.

sorry but none other than Trump or Walker have made an issue of immigration which is really the only issue. because if that doesn't get reduced or halted then all other issues will fall to the leftists as they increase their numbers (the immigrants are lefitsts)

I call it as I see it. Trump and Walker the ones strongest against 3rd world immigrants legal or illegals. The rest are for more immigrants. Guess you want to see the USA become socialist hell 3rd world hell hole or your jobs taken by immigrants. immigration is the only issue and the rest of your candidates except the 2 i mention are for more immigration as their support of obamatrade shows and their INACTION against illegals or 3rd world legals shows.

with more 3rd world immigrant leftists all other issues move to the left and conservatives get nothing so immigration is the only issue and Walker and Trump are by far strongest against that. the others are for H1B visas and obamatrade etc.

Cruz has a very thorough policy on immigration that mirrors Trumps, but also calls for a drastic reduction in Legal immigration as well.

Sorry, I don’t believe Walker is that strong on illegal immigration. He is beholden to big donors and the C of C.
