I’ve always said the best way to judge the quality of a neighborhood is to count the used tire stores per capita. Of course, now another indicator is the number of “pay day check cashing” stores per capita.

There are other criteria too. One of which is the types of cars in the neighborhood. Another is how well kept up the properties are. And the types of businesses are definitely a key indicator. A preponderance of bars on the windows of homes and businesses is yet another indicator.

And used mattress stores. And paint stores. And used book stores. Hmmm. I’ve just described downtown Rialto, CA.
