If my failure to not instantly comply with a police officer means that police officer is entitled to kill me then we’re overdue for a revolution.

And I saw nothing unusual with the officer’s requests up to the point he unlocked the car door. Given how fast he came up with his pistol it seems to me he had his hand on it as he opened the door.

In which case the driver had justifiable cause to fear for his life, didn’t he?

Oh, please. You can’t see the gun in his hand when he opened the door. You’re making that up. Please, Megan, feel free to drive off when pulled over for a minor traffic violation. It’s your revolutionary right.

The cop would have been insane had he not had his weapon ready. After all, Dubose was moving and reaching all around the car, he was unwilling to show a DL, he had alcohol in the car AND, his speech sounded impaired. I am sure any LEO in that situation would have been prepared. As far as I am concerned, the cop had justifiable cause to fear for his life.
