Has Donald Trump made his first serious boo-boo of the campaign?
For weeks, the media have trumpeted the supposed death of the Trump campaign. First, they claimed, Trump’s campaign imploded on launch thanks to his comments about illegal immigration. Then they claimed that Trump was finished because of his slap at Senator Sen. John McCain (R-AZ)43% ’s (R-AZ) war service. But neither of those comments alienated Trump’s base – he’s maintained his seven point lead over Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker in the 2016 presidential polls, with no other candidate breaking double-digits in the polls. In fact, his original comments about illegal immigration launched his candidacy to prominence, with many Americans relieved that a major candidate had finally touched the media third rail and talked openly about illegal immigrant criminality.
Now, however, Trump may have damaged himself with the very people excited by his candidacy. Asked point blank about his immigration policy, Trump dropped the brashness and the blurting, and suddenly went completely Hillary-vague on CNN. After blathering about deporting criminal illegal immigrants – even President Obama pays lip service to this idea – Trump continued:

First of all, your accusation was that I had never said anything positive about Trump. Dude, you’re like 5 years late on that. In 2011 I published a column that was both positive and negative, and the positives were some of the same ones today. So your accusation was a lie.
second - As to smearing Trump, no I have not, but I have been critical of HIS OWN ADMITTED LIBERALISM. Sorry ma’am, but that’s not a smear. That’s a vetting. You choose not to vet him. Fine, you’ll be sorry and embarrassed and have buyers remorse one day. Guaranteed.
Now if I’ve smeared anybody, it’s people like you who have your head angrily in the sand, throwing around infantile tantrums at people like me. You deserve the smearing. You’ve earned it, and the fullness of time will vindicate my take on this.
And even then, I’ll still be giving Trump credit for the good he’s done and is doing...but he is not a conservative. Not realiably. Sorry, truth is...

What’s really nuked them is that I’ve been recognizing Trump’s value in tone and bluntness longer than Trump has even been a conservative...so I get to double whammy them. It’s all archived stuff.....they just have their tails between their legs.

Your reading comprehension is low. I don't think you have to think Trump is the answer to anything nor do I think you are establishment. I said, by attacking Trump who is the only one who can beat Bush, you are helping the establishment candidate, Bush! And Bush cannot beat Hilliary which means she will be the next president.
Maybe things will change and Cruz will rise to the point of being able to beat Bush, but right now only Trump is in that position.
I am saying imo it is not wise to attack the only candidate who can possibly take down Bush right now. I get you don't like Trump and you think he is not conservative enough, but your not anti establishment GOPe by your actions.
My focus is on preventing Hilliary from being president....and preventing Bush or any of the other RInos from getting the nomination. We need someone who will tear the Washington Party to smithereens AND can actually win the nomination and election. I believe Trump is the only one who can and will do those things. Plus he will do more than anyone else to stop illegals and brings jobs and good pro American trade deals back.
My reading comprehension is far better than your memory of how you and others have attacked me. I see there have been a few slices of humble pie passed around, and I do appreciate the more reasonable tone.
But I totally reject that Trump is the only one who can beat Bush...and I totally reject that polls at this juncture are really that significant. Totally, on an intellectual basis.
I guess I am not trying hard enough...I will step up my game...lol. We could have a friendly wager on who gets the worse insult line from Eddie in next _____hrs...hahaha
