The outrage over Cecil's death is absurd when you think of the other, bigger problems which people are happy to ignore
There is a new, pointless ride opening in town designed to give users an instant but ephemeral rush. It isn’t the slide down the ugly, unnecessary Olympic tower, but the convenient and free outrage bus currently stopping on your street and picking up passengers for Cecil, the beautiful dead lion.
Out of any and all proportion to the severity of his dreadful act of animal murder, the dentist who killed Cecil has become an international focal point of hate and anger. As wars are waged, women are raped, young men commit suicide, boats in the Mediterranean sink and desperate homeless migrants head for Calais, it’s Cecil who commands our hearts unwarranted levels of our attention.

We should be MUCH more upset over the videos of the crushes babies, paid for with our tax dollars by Planned Parenthood, than the dead lion. At least the dentist didn’t do it on our dime.
If the dentist has chosen to kill and butcher American babies, nothing would have been said.

I was upset as anyone when this story first surfaced. But this has turned into a vile death hunt for the guy who did the deed. Mia Farrow has tweeted his home address - what a witch she is! Facebook is nothing but death threats for two days. Cut it out.
THAT would be a pure-win comment. It would totally reverse the blame.

You see this more and more — a lot of people view the death of an animal as the equivalent of the death of a person. Its a “tragedy” when an animal dies or is killed. I love animals, am against cruelty to animals and would feel sad if my pet died, but its a freakin ANIMAL. Not a person. Our entire adult culture has not matured beyond the emotional condition of a 6 year old who cries uncontrollably when her puppy is hit by a car.
ONe local Indy news outlet has had at least 3 stories abvout Cecil.
The only article about Planned Parenthood, was to bash Pence for asking for an investigation
