I said it a bunch of times here on FR: Trump appeals to a broad base, including blue collar and blue dog democrats. I also said when the liberal lame stream media figures that out, libtard heads would explode coast to coast. This poll is no surprise to me.
People like Trump for a lot of reasons, I think mostly because they’re sick and tired of the R’s and D’s that infest DC. Speaking his mind has always been one of Trumps more ....... Charming qualities.

I’ve said all along the candidate that figures out a populist strategy yet stay center right will win the presidency. People are tired of business as usual.
This is pent up voter angst against career lying politicians.
To: LS
As another pointed out.
People are fed up with the Washington establishment. It’s clear that Trump is not a part of that. Unless the GOP changes drastically, which is unlikely, people will continue to support Trump over anyone else in the political class.

And if he does, how will that benefit conservatives? As far as I can tell, the only things Trump can be considered conservative about are some fiscal issues and immigration. I think you are seriously underestimating Trump. Trump will benefit conservatives in a number of ways.
- Trump is more capable of winning the general election than any other GOP candidate. Thus Trump can deliver the white house and I'm mot sure Cruz, Walker, Bush or any other GOP candidate can.
- The Fiscal issues are huge, and with 100 million Americans on food stamps, fiscal issues have become the #1 social issue.
- Trump is the only candidate that truly gets the impact of stupid trade policies. Thus Trump really will deliver jobs and that will be associated with the GOP for decades.
- Trump has a better grasp of how to bring fiscal discipline than any of the others. He will bring us a slimmer more effective federal government.
- Trump is very conservative when it comes to the military. He wants a military so strong no one dares to question us. He wants to find a Patton-like general to hit ISIS hard and quick and crush them. Listen to his youtubes on ISIS and Iran.
- Trump isn't just conservative on immigration, he has effectively made the media talk about it. That same effectiveness with the media will benefit us in other areas.
- Trump is conservative on abortion. He converted to pro-life sometime in or before 2011. He was against some abortion even when he was pro-choice. If you listen to his old comments, he was sort of resigned to a pro-choice position, because he didn't think we really had an option.
- Trump is conservative on marriage. It's going to take Congress to change anything. But Trump couldn't do much without congress anyway.
- Trump wants to replace Obamacare, with something less expensive. He does want everyone covered, with market based affordable coverage. So we will just have to see how that plays out. But conservatives will find a President willing to work with them, as long as they don't leave a bunch of people without affordable care.
- Trump wants a VA that takes care of our Veterans. He's called our failure to take care of them a national disgrace.
- Trump wants to save the existing social security and Medicare programs, not by cutting them but by growing the economy so that we can afford them. To me that's honoring our obligations and a conservative position.
- Trump's job programs will allow people to get off of food stamps and other welfare programs. That's the right way to cut those programs. Not arbitrary cuts or reduction in benefits when there are no jos.
- Trump is probably more skilled to identify waste, inefficiency and fraud that the other candidates, simply by virtue of running large organizations. He will likely bring superior operational and fiscal audits to government agencies.
- If you listen to Trump's immigration speeches, he talks about us being a nation of laws and borders and without those you don't have a nation. So Trump will enforce the law. I doubt he will do end runs around the constitution. In fact I be he looks for ways to institutionalize controls to prevent future presidents from doing so.
So what issues are you concerned about that you think Trump won't bring a conservative enough view point to?

The legal immigrants HATE illegal aliens. I’ve known a number of immigrants who despise the illegals and relish the idea of someone actually taking a stand against illegal aliens.

Another plus for Trump is if the democrats try to steal another election by cheating you can bet that Trump would fight it with everything he’s got. He wouldn’t roll over like the others and people would believe him.

This poll lines up with one bit of anecdotal evidence from my family. My sister-in-law, who is Filipino, usually votes Democrat but has grown disillusioned with Obama and doesn’t like Hillary, spoke very positively of Trump. She essentially said “well, he’s got business experience, maybe he can fix our economy.” She’s never heard of Cruz, Walker, Rubio or most of the rest. I guess she must know Trump from The Apprentice.

Statistically speaking:
Cruz is reaching Conservatives, Independents, Hispanics and Vets.
Trump is reaching Conservatives, Independents, Hispanics, Vets AND Blacks, Women and importantly THE LOW INFORMATION VOTER.
