Yes,you can draw analogies between the two issues.But to focus solely on the lion my thoughts go like this:

I've visited national parks in both Kenya and Tanzania.I've also been aware for years of the serious problem with poachers...elephants,lions and rhinos,particularly...that these countries have and *have * had.Just last fall visiting several parks in Kenya we saw armed soldiers everywhere.I would take that as a strong hint if I was a poacher...or even a hunter.

If this dentist *truly* believed that he was within the laws of Zimbabwe to do what he did then one could argue that he's blameless...legally *and* morally.Perhaps he was duped by con artists...even con artists working for the government.It's not as if Zimbabwe is widely recognized to be a stable,civilized nation populated solely by (and governed by) righteous folks!

Doesn't matter. Doesn't matter if there's a good reason to cull the herd of old animals. Doesn't matter that the money these hunts raise often help support conservation efforts. None of this matters.

He's going to be destroyed, his reputation ruined and his business bankrupt. That's the power of social media these days.

Everyone needs to be aware of this. Do something people find offensive, get your name on the internet, you'd better prepare for hellfire. The end comes fast and with no mercy.

I did some fishing last summer on the Zambezi river, and did get pretty close to shore on the Zimbabwe side... but the guides said we could get shot the second we set foot on shore... so we didn't.
