Sixty-three percent of registered voters oppose cutting off federal funds to Planned Parenthood, according to a new poll commissioned by the organization.
The poll, conducted by the Democratic firm Hart Research Associates, finds that along with 63 percent of voters overall who oppose defunding Planned Parenthood, 68 percent of independents also oppose the move. The poll finds that a bare majority of 53 percent of Republicans favor defunding, while 34 percent oppose the move.
The survey finds that voters are more likely to vote for a candidate who supports funding Planned Parenthood over one calling to end funding, by a margin of 58 to 26 percent. The results come as part of Planned Parenthood seeks to defend itself against the Center for Medical Progress, an anti-abortion group that has stirred controversy by posting undercover videos about fetal tissue donation by Planned Parenthood.
Planned Parenthood has also hired the public relations firm SKDKnickerbocker, which helped organize Tuesdays conference call on the poll.
The undercover videos have spurred a new push among conservatives to cut off federal funding for Planned Parenthood. The Senate is likely to vote this week on a defunding measure.
But Planned Parenthood said the poll results show Republicans are only hurting themselves by going after the group.
The survey found finds by a margin of 52 percent to 25 percent that voters are more likely to believe Planned Parenthood than the video-makers on the claim that Planned Parenthood does not profit from fetal tissue donation.
"Today's poll shows much of what we already knew: that defunding Planned Parenthood is a losing proposition not just for the millions of men and women who come through Planned Parenthood's doors every day, but also with voters who don't want to see their politicians focused on restricting lifesaving care, Cecile Richards, the groups president, said in a statement.
Backers also zeroed in on womens views in the poll, which found that 52 percent of women have positive feelings about the organization and 27 percent have negative feelings.
The renewed attacks on Planned Parenthood are likely to become a substantial political liability for Republicans, especially among women, said Geoff Garin, president of Hart Research.
The poll was conducted from July 23 to 26, among 800 registered voters. The first undercover video on Planned Parenthood was released on July 14.
The survey has a margin of error of plus or minus 3.5 percentage points.
Yeah. With Taxpayer money.
They're using our money to fight to keep using our money.
Don't you wish you could do that?
Let me see the results if they posed the question something like....
Planned Parenthood was caught on tape discussing how they crunch a baby’s head in order to save the hearts and lungs for resale - which is illegal.
Should taxpayers fund this abortion group?
Easily. The country we thought we lived in is now GONE. We live in Obamaland now. Remember that he predicted he could win a third term? He was telling the truth. If he ran on a ticket with Cecile Richards, he'd probably get even more votes.
I’d like to put every one of the baby killers in prison where they belong. That way, they wouldn’t have to worry about the population or “climate change”.
Go crawl back in your hole, scared, little rabbit.
“Majority opinion cannot make right of something objectively wrong”.
Very true.
Example: Obama elected twice.
Heartless Research Associates.
Here’s their question....
Given that abortion is a basic woman’s right, do you believe in 1) sending a pregnant woman into a back alley for an abortion where she may die due to unsanitary conditions or 2) continuing to fund Planned Parenthood?

FR: Never Accept the Premise of Your Opponents Argument
Regardless if all registered voters oppose cutting funds to Planned Parenthood, it remains that the states have never delegated to the feds, expressly via the Constitution, the specific power to tax and spend for such a purpose.
This is another example where the corrupt, post-17th Amendment ratification Senate wrongly helped the corrupt House to steal both 10th Amendment-protected state powers, and also state revenues associated with those powers, by passing unconstitutional appropriations bills which provide funds for Planned Parenthood.
And then the corrupt Senate confirms activist justices who declare such unconstitutonal laws to be constitutional if such laws are challenged.
What a scam!
If the state legislatures still uniquely elected federal senators as the Founding States had intended, then senators should have either protected their states by killing such bills, or worked with the House to propose an appropriate amendment to the Constitution to the states, not that the states would have ratified such an amendment.
The 17th Amendment needs to disappear, and corrupt senators along with it.
Complete BS!
The percentage of people who consider themselves “pro-choice” is consistently in the neighborhood of 45-50%. But many of these people, especially the libturd types, oppose taxpayer funding of abortion.
No way that number exceeds even half of what they reported.
