Donald Trump wants to be the 'jobs president.' But how?
CNN ^ | July 28th, 2015 | By Heather Long

Donald Trump is the Republican to beat in the polls, yet most Americans don't know where he stands on the key economic issues.

Visiting Trump's official campaign website isn't much help. It vows to "Make America Great Again!" but it doesn't say how.

Lately, his campaign speeches have focused on immigration reform -- "Take the bad ones and get them the hell out." -- and bashing Washington's lobbying culture -- "I'm not using the lobbyists. I'm not using donors. I don't care. I'm really rich."

But the economy is still the top election issue by far -- 44% of Americans say it's their No. 1 concern. Trump wants to be the "jobs president." In his speech declaring his candidacy for president, he proclaimed, "I will be the greatest jobs president that God ever created."

Yes, we need to hear more from Trump on this.

We have some vague outlines.

We need to start asking about details in the fine tradition of FR vetting.

Maybe he could hire the lyin’ king as a consultant since he’s done such a fantastic job with the economy. Has anyone asked him how far the lyin’ king would have made it on The Apprentice? I’m thinkin’ half way through the first episode—— “You’re fired”.

I hope he goes back to talking about bureaucratic red-tape and overregulation, because I think it will resonate the same way illegal immigration has. And it is clearly tied to job creation - the best way to create real jobs in the private sector is by cutting them in the public sector.

Trump moves the needle like know else one can. Those vague outlines are pretty good at the moment, and what’s the GrOP-E’s idea of moving the ecomomy? Are they going to resonate like Trump can, or come across like the limp noodles that they are? Can Hillary LoL haha say anything meaningful about the economy?

Cnn is dumber than a box a rocks.

Raising the price on imported goods by 25% to 35% sounds good to you?

Hey Heather,

Aside from Hillary taxing the middleclass, giving their tax dollars to illegal aliens and exempting all of her donors, what’s her plan?

Hopefully it will to shut down the Chicken Noodle Network.

"What a great slogan"

Agreed, Jobs President.

But somebody in a public forum will ask him "How?"

He should be laying that out now.

I’m thinking some specifics will have to come out in the debates, otherwise he’s sunk. Generalities are fine just getting the ball rolling, but it won’t be long at all till he’ll have to start talking details. Or go home...

For those nations that manipulate their currency, have no environmental or labor law burdens, absolutely.

The Mercantilists circle our nation like buzzards circle a dying buffalo. And Republicans keep letting blood.

Trump knows more about creating jobs than all the grifters in DC combined.

All they know is how to take money by force from the citizens

Trump needs to produce details commensurate with the level of detail from the other candidates. At some point it would be nice to see his business plan be more comprehensive in detail than the others (CEO quality), but now is not that time.

What’s his view on taxes? on regulation? So far he sounds like he means to intimidate foreign countries into forcing businesses back to the USA.

That's most of the countries we import our stuff from.

Increasing exports to China and the rest world is good to us. Keeping money inside the US is good for us. Unpegging the Chinese low yaun from the US dollar is good for us. Creating millions of new US jobs is good for us. Equalizing trade and making good deals with the world is good for us.

But how? Spoken like a true liberal idiot at CNN. How about reversing the last 7+ years of Obama economic policy that has us in a perpetual slump?

Well if we're slapping a 35% tax on their exports to us then why wouldn't they do the same on our exports to them?

As for the rest, one needs alternative sources for the goods if you want to keep the money in the U.S. We have systematically destroyed our domestic industries in consumer electronics, textiles, furniture, and household appliances, and weakened many others. So we don't have a domestic source for clothing, shoes, TVs, computers, clocks, refrigerators, iPods, iPhones, and any number of other items. All your plan will do is make them more expensive.

Yes, red tape is important, because that’s usually what makes businessmen understand the virtue in downsizing government. But Trump is a native NYer and we haven’t actually heard much from him on limiting the scope and scale of government.

So far, we’ve heard mostly that he’ll be “smarter” and a better negotiator than who we’ve got in office currently, and he’ll somehow be tough on immigration while giving 30 million people here illegally now legal status, once they take a vacation to visit their family.

Oh, we’ve also heard how the economy tends to do better under Democrat presidents than Republican presidents. Reagan? Obama? Carter?
