Real-estate magnate Donald Trump frequently touts his wealth on the presidential campaign trail. But a new report essentially accuses the GOP candidate of overstating his net worth by billions of dollars.
Bloomberg reporters Caleb Melby and Richard Rubin, citing an analysis by the Bloomberg Billionaires Index, reported Thursday that Trump was actually worth about $2.9 billion.
That's more than $7 billion less than Trump has said.
In a statement earlier this month, Trump's campaign wrote that the real-estate developer and television personality has seen his net worth rocket upward even in just the past year.
"Real-estate values in New York City, San Francisco, Miami, and many other places where he owns property have gone up considerably during this period of time," the Trump campaign said, referring to an earlier $8.7 billion figure from the year before.
The statement continued: "His debt is a very small percentage of value, and at very low interest rates. As of this date, Mr. Trump's net worth is in excess of TEN BILLION DOLLARS."
One of Trump's leading spokesmen, Michael Cohen, subsequently said $10 billion was actually a conservative estimate. Cohen, an executive vice president and special counsel to Trump's organization, said in a CNN interview that Trump's empire of golf resorts, luxury hotels, and other properties was on prime real estate and could easily be valued at an even higher price. (Trump has also made money from his Miss Universe Organization beauty pageants and hosting "The Apprentice" and "Celebrity Apprentice," among other high-profile activities.)
"I consider myself to be an expert in real estate," Cohen said. "I can tell you that $10 billion number, in my estimation, is low. Because I know the value of New York City real estate. You're talking about the prime properties. You're talking about Fifth Avenue."

In the immortal words of Hillary Clinton, “What difference does it make?”
Yawn. Another attack on Trump. Shocking.
So he’s only got $3 billion. OK, so what?
This ought to be fun . . . Bloomberg picking a fight with Trump. . . whose water is Bloomberg totin’ in this election?
Bloomberg is a menace to society - How about a nice 32 ounce Coke, Bloomer?
From the Bloomberg article itself-
“There may be additional assets that the analysis doesnt include.”
Buried in the article, after one has read the blaring headlines.
Hey, a billion here and a billion there, pretty soon you’re talking some real money.
Utter Honesty is expected from Heros?
Devastating take-down of the Donald
No it’s not MORE at the link. The link you posted is using the same Bloomberg article as its premise.
Maybe you meant “More in that same echo chamber?”
Different link Forbes, uses Bloomberg info, same exact conclusion.
“There may be additional assets that the analysis doesnt include.”
Done
So the “Rape” allegations when up in smoke.
Now release the Bloomberg Financial hit piece.
The all out ATTACK on Trump by the Establishment should CLUE every Freeper that he is the real deal this time.
Even if this is political theater..., Trump has still done permanent damage to himself.
No one can say he is not driving the debate too.
For the record, the only Republican I will vote for besides Trump is Cruz.
The rest are nothing but politically correct sell out Rats.
What about that article impressed you? It’s a rehash of a thousand articles. Anyone can do that.
Dayspring trying to flip the field???
It’s all-out war on Trump/Cruz. The establishment(which includes Fox News)is going to use every weapon at its disposal to destroy him.
Establishment vs. Trump/Cruz. As the greatest American president in the last 100 years once said: “It is a time for choosing.”
Said it elsewhere, that if their intent is to attract people away from Trump (for ‘more serious’ candidates), GOPe and National Review have gone about it all wrong.
(psst....some of us like Cruz but think Trump is a buffoon).
But Trump is useful for Cruz, he’s setting the table.
