Do you think that ends the lawsuit against the Daily Beast?
I think there is no lawsuit against the Daily Beast. Trump's lawyer has threatened one, but nothing has been filed yet.
And I think that such a lawsuit would fail. The Daily Beast article reported about allegations that were made in a litigation (divorce proceeding) between Trump and his ex-wife. When a newspaper reports about allegations made in legal proceedings, the plaintiff must prove not that the allegations were false, but rather that the article's depiction of the allegations was false. So, in this case, it would not be enough for Trump to show that the rape allegations were false - Trump would have to show that the Daily Beast's statements concerning those allegations were themselves false.
Not to mention that Trump is a public figure, which makes it that much more difficult to succeed on a defamation claim.
Trump's lawsuit would lose on a motion to dismiss. Pretty easily, actually.
