Florida man banned from Starbucks for life for exposing parking violations

A Florida man banned from Starbucks for life because he called out customers who were breaking the law says he'd do it again to raise awareness for people with disabilities.

Rob Rowen says he received a letter from the manager at a Tampa location after he was accused of publicly shaming people for illegally using the handicapped parking spaces and confronting them inside the coffee shop with cell phone images he took of the violations. Rowen’s son-in-law has muscular dystrophy and uses a power wheelchair, he said.

“I saw someone park and it was obvious they weren’t handicapped,” Rowen told WTSP. “There was no handicapped-parking sticker, it wasn’t a handicapped plate. And so I said to him you’re parked in the one handicapped space and you need to move your car.”

Of course they’re typically buying the garbage from the center aisles...

We recently got a Starbucks less than 2 miles from my house. I have never been in a Starbucks and will never set foot in it or go though the drive through. Besides there is nothing worse than a coffee in those stupid paper cups. I want real coffee cups or mugs

Isn't apprehending lawbreakers the job that police are being paid to do? (I'm presuming that a significant number of the lawbreakers aren't police.)

The fine is $250 for the first offense here in the People's Republic. And the law is enforced.

He should have contacted the proper authorities before trying to start something in a restaurant.

NO

I can’t think of anything less important to me than being banned from Starbuck’s for life.

Wait a minute you want the landlord to move the handicapped parking away from the store?

No. Try reading again what I posted. If it still doesn't make sense to you, try again in the morning.

I see many off those too, and it ticks me off. Before I became handicapped I wouldn’t have dared to park in one of those spaces.

Handicapped doesn’t necessarily mean physically. :-P

And I have to question the mental faculties of anyone who thinks that overpriced burnt sludge is worth drinking.

LOL Starbux has to be one of the best marketing deals in history. No idea how they do it.

I saw one woman using a tag that was expired by 5 years.

I've got a lazy jackass brother-in-law who's not disabled but hangs a tag on his mirror wherever he shops........I don't know how he got the tag

I don't know how he got the tag

Back around 2000, before driver licenses got holograms, etc, my daughter knew guys at college who had software that could print a fake drivers license for any state. Something like a handicap tag would be trivial.

My husband has diabetic neuropathy, he has trouble walking and they gave him 2 plackards, one in his truck one in mine. I do not use the one in my car unless he is with me. It would be dishonest for me to use his.

Was her father an asshole? LOL

He was the kind of guy who would pass out in front of the TV at 10 PM only to wake up at 2, finish the warm beer in his hand, and chug another one on the way to bed. He would get up at 5 AM and drink a couple cups of coffee and be back to beer by 7.

My sister abuses my mother’s (legitimate) parking pass ALL THE TIME.

Not even Fox can get a headline correct. He wasn’t banned for exposing parking violations, he was banned for causing a disruption and threatening people.

If he’d wanted to address the parking issue, he could have called the local PD and gotten them issued a $200 parking ticket. This guy is unstable, and an attention seeking troll.
