An FDNY recruit is getting a third chance to pass the training academy after collecting top firefighter pay for a year in desk jobs, sources told The Post.
Choeurlyne Doirin-Holder, 39 — one of four women among 320 current probies in training — failed midway through a Fire Academy class in 2013, and returned to her former job as an EMT.
After entering another class in early 2014, she dropped out because of an injury. But the FDNY kept Doirin-Holder on payroll.

There is no longer any money left to play grownup with these tokens; as the economy soured companies shed the window-dressing and kept the real workers.
For an idea as to what kind of nonsense the FDNY engages in, recall that after 9/11 newly-elected mayor Bloomberg was asked how many firemen the city intended to hire to replace the 343 that had been killed. His answer: None; they were looking at downsizing & closing firehouses anyway. Government hiring, along with welfare, is the new economy in the NYC metro area (since the private sector started moving jobs out years ago). Also on 9/11: The number of office vacancies thankfully reduced congestion on the stairwells, and one reason it is taking so long to replace the office space is the lack of demand. Lots of government employees going to be working in the new tower - more false economy.
Instead of running a mile and a half, they are going to allow the substitution of running on a Stairmaster?
Gee, I don’t know that fire trucks carried Stairmasters for use at fires?

No question that there is a higher dropout rate training to be a NYFD recruit than at Fort Benning BCT. Ranger School is an entirely different matter.
