The public has been bombarded with the notion that there are so many illegals here that there’s no effective way to deport them all.
It makes sense that a good % of Republicans, and even Conservatives would hold that view and think that the issue that needs to be addressed is how to get them fully assimilated into the US economy.
In essence they’ve thrown up their hands and surrendered on tge matter. They do so, see my above, without much notion of the economic consequences of both illegal presence AND any sort of assimilation.
