Yes, go ahead. Gamble to your heart’s content. But it’s an unseemly business.
As a conservative, I think character matters. And money isn’t everything.
The great majority of businesses are “unseemly”. The stock market is gambling pure and simple. Some do it with more information and research than others. The professionals do better than the casual for that reason. The State sanctions gambling with lotteries, etc.
And it isn’t the gambling that is unseemly, it is what can surround it. But what surrounds it surrounds everything. The problem isn’t the gambling and the Bible sure takes no stand against it.
I’ve never had a problem with it and don’t get the fuss.
I have no issue with gambling, but living in NJ we understand that it doesn’t fix anything. Atlantic City is a dump, and the only reason other areas want casinos now is to keep people with money coming to areas where nobody has any reason to visit. It doesn’t fix a ghetto; it subsidizes it.
The Connecticut casinos are nice because they are in the middle of the woods.
