They don’t go out of their way to find negative stories on Democrats, but when the tidal wave of mendacious vomitus coming out of their mouths is so overwhelming as to destroy towns and cities, the Times finds themselves compelled to report it.

You're right that they do not normally go out of their way. However, they have indeed broken several stories on the Hillary email scandal. Check it out. It's not something I'm making up. And someone is leaking information to them from a high government source. It may be that they're collaborating with the NYT. See this article in the New York Post by Michael Goodwin.
