American people elected a Republican majority believing it would somehow be different from a Democratic one

WASHINGTON, D.C. – After speaking on the Senate floor today, U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) issued the following statement:
“We’ve just seen something extraordinary on the Senate floor. The American people elected a Republican majority believing that a Republican majority would be somehow different from a Democratic majority in the United States Senate. Unfortunately, the way the current Senate operates, there is one party, the Washington party.
“Senate leadership consists of the McConnell-Reid leadership team. They operate as a team. They support the same priorities. If you look at what has occurred in the United States Senate since the Republicans took a majority, we immediately returned after winning a historic majority to pass a trillion dollar ‘cromnibus’ bill filled with corporate welfare and pork. Then, the so-called Republican majority voted to fund Obamacare. Then, the so-called Republican majority voted to fund President Obama’s unconstitutional executive amnesty. Then, the so-called Republican majority voted to confirm Loretta Lynch as attorney general. Then, just moments ago, the so-called Republican majority voted to reauthorize the Export-Import Bank, an egregious example of cronyism and corporate welfare.
“Every one of those is the priority of the Democratic leader Harry Reid. Every one of those is the priority of the Republican leader, Mitch McConnell. They operate as a team, expanding Washington and undermining the liberty of the people. What we just saw a moment ago is unprecedented in the annals of Senate history. It consisted of the majority leader and the minority leader denying members the ability to have votes on their amendments and indeed the ability even to have a roll call vote. The denial of a second, as you just saw a moment ago, which was aggressively whipped by the majority, is an extraordinary measure designed to gag Senators and enforce the will of the McConnell-Reid leadership team.
“It saddens me as a Republican to see Republican leadership lead the effort to kill an amendment that would have prevented lifting sanctions on Iran unless and until Iran recognizes Israel’s right to exist as a Jewish state and unless and until Iran releases American hostages. Make no mistake – granting a sufficient second for a roll call vote is done customarily in the United States Senate. Denying it is extraordinary, and it is done as a consequence of the majority leader Mitch McConnell being afraid for his members to be on record on this issue.
“We then, subsequently, saw Senator Mike Lee from Utah bring up his amendment to defund Planned Parenthood. We have seen in recent weeks gruesome videos of senior officials of Planned Parenthood discussing the selling of body parts of unborn children. These videos are horrifying, and yet it saddens me greatly that the Republican leader led the effort to continue the taxpayer funding of Planned Parenthood.
“Make no mistake — when the majority leader whipped Republicans to vote alongside Democrats, it was no surprise that Democrats did not want to vote on that because Democrats in this chamber do not purport to support the right to life. But to see the so-called Republican leadership whip against allowing a vote to defund Planned Parenthood — it has the virtue of clarity. It makes clear that the McConnell-Reid leadership team is united in favor of big government spending and debt and power.
“The McConnell-Reid leadership team has no interest in cutting off one penny of funds to Planned Parenthood, which is why leader Mitch McConnell just blocked a vote on defunding Planned Parenthood. To the millions of Americans who rallied in November believing if only we got a Republican majority in the Senate something would be different, this was a clarifying and a sad moment.”

Dude, you make a LOT of soup from a small bone and a little gristle... LOL!
People who held their noses and voted R over D weren’t driving a knife.
The elected Republicans, now there are some smiling bloody knife holders.
Farewell, TNMOUTH, I have exposed your lack of comprehension for all to see. Continuing a conversation with you would be wasted time.
If this was Texas hold’em, Cruz just declared, “all in”. He has staked his political career on calling his party on their duplicity and hypocrisy.
What he has done is similar to the Spanish conquistador who burned his ships when arriving in America. There is no going back, only forward.
God bless him and protect him.
Dems have at least 40-45% of the vote locked in.
Consider that Baraq Obama won re-election with $4 gasoline, 8% unemployment (13% actual), surging food prices, trillion dollar deficits, Obamacare, and Benghazi.
Any 3 way race turns out like 1992.
Dems with 43% BUT 370 electoral votes.
Then who elected the men that gave barry all his wins?
Sorry. They drove the knife. Dems did not elect the GOP.
Abortion is illegal. It violates every clause of the stated purposes of the Constitution, as well as its explicit requirements.
Cruz IS all in.
Amen to your petition for His blessing and protection over Sen Cruz.
“I agree with Norm. There is a lot of idiocy going around this page and others regarding Trump. It is a bit disappoint coming from many on FR.
Give us your wisdom. Why are we wrong? What is it exactly that we are wrong about? Do tell! I’m dying to hear! “
The ‘perfects’ are going to blast you with their charming superior BS about how they are smarter than anyone else. Just get ready.
As long as Cruz isn’t calling people names for supporting Trump alongside, I will support both. I don’t care if the hardcore ‘perfects’ like it or not.
Trump has been pro Abortion and for single payer Heath care system.
Glad he is speaking out on illegal immigration but he isn’t close to being a conservative.
BTW bad job by Palin helping Hatch and McCain in their elections.

...
Also accurately called the Uniparty, and the Kleptocrats.
When a man like Cruz is dedicated to the TRUTH...
he is in it to the end...to the Good.
I would vote for a Donald/TED...but prefer TED/Donald
Independent ticket.
Pray that it is in Jehovah God’s will that Ted Cruz serves 8 years as President of the U.S.A. and then is appointed to serve a long life term on the U.S. Supreme Court.
Ignoring his record for one. Projecting desires on him like Obamazombies at the Pillars of Styro for another. Placing words over deeds for a third.
Address those and we will go from there.
My family has a particular connection to the Republican Party that dates back to the Civil War. I have felt a great deal of loyalty. I have Donated money and time. That is not to say I have voted a straight party ticket. I have voted for Democrats and for Independents at times.
Now I might support a particular candidate.( I just sent a check to Cruz.) But I will no longer support ,financially or with time, the party itself.
No argument here

I’m thinking Hillary will NOT have that 40-some % locked in. She could be raked over the coals once the real campaigning gets rolling.
The Entitlement army wants gravy.
Only Democrats are promising gravy.
I agree Hillary will get less votes than Baraq did.
But she’s still a lock for the low 40s in any 3-way race.
