Actually it was a cautionary tale about open immigration; the area of South Africa was essentially uninhabited when the whites arrived. The blacks living there now arrived from other areas.
The settling of South Africa was like the settling of America in one respect. The native population of khoi-san or bushmen was reduced by new diseases originating with the invaders, in tjhis case the Dutchmen and Huguenots pushing from the south and the Bantu pushing in from the north. America had competing invaders, too, but in the north only the English provided the numbers to prevail.
