The Islamic State's limitless brutality is known far and wide, with thousands of survivors reporting cases of mass murders, rape and the sexual enslavement of women and children. Now new reports reveal that the radical movement has reached a new low targeting disabled people.
Refugee survivors narrowly escaping the clutches of Islamic State fighters in Iraq and Syria have reported that the fighters often kill and torture special needs civilians when they capture them.
Twenty-seven-year-old Summer Khaleel Khaleel, a Syrian refugee from the town of Al Hasakah, told of her escape to The Christian Post after she fled her village when IS fighters took control. "We heard of many cases of the fighters abusing and killing disabled people, so I fled with my family and my disabled husband as soon as we could find an exit out of the country."
Her husband Salim is not able to speak, is confined to a wheelchair and needs diapers. "It was so hard for me to see him laying down in the car for three hours. ... I had to remind myself when he needed to go to the bathroom or if he needed water. The biggest challenge was at the border crossing, they did not grant us the entry documents and we had to find another way into Kurdistan."
Resources are under strain across Iraq, as the country strives to cope with the millions of refugees coming into the country. While people with disabilities in Iraq are eligible to receive cash benefits and specified services from the government, many refugees are not receiving the help they need.
"I did not receive any support from the Iraqi organizations or the UNHCR when I crossed the border. I headed toward the refugee camp in Erbil right away and also checked several special needs organizations, but unfortunately, I did not receive any help from them. We beg for money to survive," Summer told CP.
UNHCR officials say that in the northern Iraqi refugee camps, partner organizations such as Handicap International, the ICRC and the Barzani Charity provide wheelchairs and various services including physical and occupational therapy for critical cases.
However, the lack of funding and government facilities to provide specialized care to people with disabilities and the limited number of other organizations makes it hard for the organization to help all displaced people in need.
As the largest humanitarian crisis the world has ever known continues to unfold, more than 4 million Iraqi and Syrian refugees attempt to escape the clutches of the self proclaimed Islamic State.
Since their emergence the radical group has displaced, tortured, raped and killed more than 4 million Arabs and other minority groups including many women and children. The group's notoriety for killing helpless civilians is widespread and the group is infamous for persecuting religious minority groups including Christians, Shiite Muslims, Yazidi's and Turkomen. Cities like the Anbar's Haditha, which have successfully resisted IS offensives, are rare.
The radical group continues to successfully wipe out entire villages including all the churches in the zones they control, despite facing several air campaigns by a U.S.-led international coalition and offensives on the ground by the Iraqi government and Shiite backed militias.
According to UNHCR, women have been particularly brutalized, with thousands reportedly kidnapped, sold and sexually abused. Rapes, executions and forced child recruitment are widespread. During Ramadan IS fighters were awarded slave women as prizes in a Quran reciting competition.
National security analyst and adjunct professor of Homeland Security, professor Ryan Mauro says that while the U.S. and dozens of allies are indeed bombing and fighting the Islamic State, it is not enough.
"The ultimate solution will require non-American boots on the ground, perhaps including an Arab force like the one Egypt is putting together. The Christians need to be able to protect themselves and the Sunni tribes and Kurds who have fought alongside American servicemen should have their requests for much-needed aid granted," he says.
I am pretty sure Allah is quite happy with all of this. His influence reaches deep into these cultures.
The people who can really need to arm themselves and start shooting back men, women and any body that can hold a gun.
Wow. Egypt is putting together a force to fight ISIS? Good! You know, of 0bama had his way, Egypt would by now be an Islamic Brotherhood-controlled state, all Egyptian Christians would have been killed by now, and the Islamic Brotherhood would be using Egypt as a resource to aid ISIS.
Where’s that dopey reporter going around asking people if they’re thanking Obama for all this.
It is just Islam being Islam.
Mark, you are a serious poster, and I like a lot of what you write.
But, what is the purpose of constant “exposure” of facts that no one is prepared to do anything serious about?
Extirpation of Islam and all of its barbarities, from Morocco to Mindanao and from Kazakhstan to Dar es Salaam requires a war of conquest the size and scope of which the world has never seen. ISIS is the tip of the iceberg.
My preferred solution is isolation of the Ummah and expulsion from the US and Europe of its loyalists. But I have no solution for their savagery conducted in their own savage lands, and the constant elevation of their barbarian chieftains into boogiemen and repetition of their awful deeds has the effect of demoralizing our own people.
By posting these stories, what do you hope will happen?
Since their Allah is satan, yes he very much is. Murder, mayhem, lies and deceit. That is Satan’s joy.
Jesus had pity on the poor, sick and disabled but the rabid followers of Mad Mo torture and kill them instead. Yeh— choose your Master wisely. Hell is their final home and is ISIS on mega-steroids.
“By posting these stories, what do you hope will happen?”
There is a huge, well-funded propaganda effort on the part of the various barbarities in the world, whether Islam, gay marriage, pro-illegal immigration, etc. By keeping the barbarities in front of us Mark is helping, grass-roots style, counter the barbarities with knowledge. He will hopefully help otherwise clueless people realize that there is a problem and to define the problem. Defining the problem is half of the solution.
Consider it this way. People buy lottery tickets because the coverage of lottery winners creates the false illusion that you can win. But if you saw a thirty second interview with all the losers and they ran twenty four hours a day it would take nearly a decade (for most lotteries) to interview all the losers. A failure to cover one side or the other results in a false picture of reality.
I read enough. They are subhuman savages.
You rarely see these types of things in the news...they are too busy covering racist, tea-party types shooting theaters...or racist Donald Trump impugning all Hispanics...or too busy covering a stupid television program.
In the 1930s, people ignored the pogrom against the Jews. There was no Internet at that time, so people had to depend upon what the government told them and what the Mainstream News told them.
By posting these articles on FR (where they'll actually get more readership than from their original source), I hope that more people won't be able to say, "I had no idea" when this is all said and done.
What can be done? If you go to church, do you ask your pastor to discuss this every now and again? I don't know about Protestant groups, but with Catholics, we have a "prayer of the faithful" each week...do we, as Catholics, ask our pastors to include a prayer for the Christian martyrs of Syria and Iraq each week?
If you have representation in Congress, are you writing letters? If you never hear about it, chances are you won't think to write your representatives to demand action. Sure, it likely won't do any good, but you can't tell...enough volume can make them think.
We have a Presidential campaign going on. If candidates swing through your area, are you asking them what they intend to do about this?
How about refugee status for Iraqi and Syrian Christians? Øbama has no problem granting refugee status to Muzzies...how about demanding that he cut infiltrating Jihadis off and allow true refugees to come in?
There is plenty that CAN be done. But people have to keep being made aware the fact that there are good people who are being tortured and slaughtered merely for the fact that they are Christian before they're willing to do ANYTHING about it.
Might be Pollyanish on my part, but I would hope that some kind of action would come out of this.
The media are controlled by socialists and crony capitalists. ISIS is killing Christians - they are doing the left’s work for them. Were it not for the unofficial media, most people would know nothing about ISIS’ crimes. Obama would have the cover to give ISIS all sorts of aid (much more than he already has).
It could well have the effect of spurring them to meaningful action.
So far millions of Americans are still so delusional as to be virtually comatose.
Having drug pushers prey on their children in grammar schools, having Mexican drug cartels take over their national parks, the exposure of wide spread corruption in the federal government, 9/11, the Clinton Scandals, attempts to disarm the American people, the Open Borders and the takeover of the USA by illegal immigrants, the degeneration of the U.S. free press into a propaganda machine, the ubiquitous fifth in American culture, the destruction of the U.S. economy, Waco, Chattanooga, the Boston Marathon, Beslin--the list goes on and on and on!
If these outrages haven't shocked the American people into facing reality--maybe the ISIS atrocities and the recrudescence to the Third Reich will do it.
If not--the American people will require an even greater shock to awaken them. I tremble to imagine what that will be.
But the truth--as shocking and horrifying as it may be--is the only thing that's going to wake up the American people in time to save themselves and their children--if anything will.
Ok so this is a bona fide genocide and all happening on obama’s watch and pope Francis is toasting baby killer politicians in the name of manmade global warming
ø too.
I disagree. Or, rather, I think there is no "meaningful action" which we are capable of undertaking at the present time.
War propaganda (or war information, if you prefer) can have a great effect WHEN THE CONQUEST OF THE ENEMY IS IN SIGHT.
Telling us over and over and over about all the horribles of Islam, while we are manifestly unwilling and unable to undertake any "meaningful action" tends to make people depressed and withdrawn, unwilling, if you will, to "stick their necks out".
But, if you feel differently, tell me what "meaningful action" you envision which could solve the problem. And by "solve the problem", I mean, make the number of jihadis recruited below replacement as they are killed off, and prevent infiltration of the US and (perhaps) Europe.
Remember, in war, if you are not winning you are losing. Any action which demonstrates our unwillingness to win is a loss.
My plan, after 9/11 and posted here repeatedly then, was to cancel all visas for residents of Saudi Arabia, Yemen, Pakistan, Iraq, and Syria, set up reception centers for out processing all those without visas who would report voluntarily, and arresting or killing all those who wouldn't.
Instead, the Bush and Obama administrations have admitted more than a million Muslims from those countries since 9/11.
If we were not willing to do something as simple and legal as removing the poison from our land, what makes you think we are willing to do something "meaningful" over there?
And, speaking of "over there", we left the enemy's center of gravity in Riyadh and Islamabad untouched while absorbing 4811 killed, 33,000 wounded, and spending trillions of dollars playing whack-a-mole in outlying areas.
The people will not again bear such a burden in an aimless sideshow.
Don't get me wrong. Your heart's in the right place. But I need to see an action plan that is "meaningful" before I agree that postings like Mark's can do any good.
The reason ISIS exist is because it is Sunni and the Saudis are Sunni. The only thing keeping the Saudi alive is ISIS. IRAN, which is Shiite already in in defacto control of Iraq which borders Saudi.
If ISIS dies ...so does Saudi. The Saudi are keeping ISIS alive with their money....supplies to ISIS and Bribes to other countrys. Molsums killing Moslums is the idea.
