I imagine they’re like the people of the towns near concentration camps who were forced to go in and clean up bodies after the US liberated the camps.
I’d tell them, “This is the reality of what you believed in. Look at it!”
Its an incremental thing. Given enough time this would have become common accepted knowledge but this was a jump in the timeline that causes real problems.
