It’s the way that the thermostat is set in the wall.
Think about it this way...
You’ve got a thermostat set at about the five foot mark at 70*. In the winter, when you’re sitting down, it can actually be as much as 5* colder nearer the floor where you’re sitting. It can be over 80* near the ceiling. (heat rises)
So, to get warm while you’re watching TV, you have to set the damn thing at 75* to get it to 70* on the sofa and your feet are still cold.
But in the summer, the overall temp is higher. So now the AC is fighting to make that five foot mark 70*, but it’s not reaching below as well.
Get a cheap thermometer and look to see what temps you’re *really* experiencing at your body-level. It’s eye-opening.
I do think that men have a better ‘range’ than women. My husband functions just fine at 60-95* without complaint. I cannot do that. Once it’s over 75* I’m in trouble. And I mean ‘call an ambulance my heart is beating at 200BPM and my blood pressure has dropped to 50/unreadable’ kind of trouble.
Yeah. I actually go into shock if I get too hot for too long.
Irritating. (I live in Arizona of all places)
The next morning she ranted and raved about how she almost froze to death and didn't get a wink of sleep. By the way, she sleeps in a nightgown and has a thick quilt for a covering. I sleep in a tee shirt and underwear (I apologize for the ugly picture going through your mind) and use a flat sheet and a thin blanket for covering. I am plenty warm. (Yes, we sleep on the same bed.)
So......I raised the thermostat back to 74, and now my wife is happy again and not complaining. I hope.
