In the article we discover Trump is saying that having the GOP cheat him out of the nomination will have a consequence. IOW, if he thinks he is fairly beaten, then no 3rd party. If he loses through shenanigans from the GOP, then he’ll consider going it alone.

My sense is that the GOP is already cheating both him and Cruz through their media connections. Cruz doesn’t have the cash to fund a separate run, but Trump does.

If I were them, I’d have their dogs back off and let this simply play out.

The media needs no encouragement to attack Trump.
Like Cruz he threatens their profits.

And the fact of the matter is that Trump would be a viable 3rd party candidate if he is blatantly cheated of the nomination.
But a national joke if he ran after losing even a barely fair primary.
