As if we need more proof of how tone deaf and self-destructive GOP elites can be towards their most reliable voters, the New York Times reports that at a weekend meeting of the Republican Governors Association there was an attempt by some “donors and operatives” to come up with a plan to bar current Republican frontrunner Donald Trump from the presidential debates.
****************
The Republican Party has lost the popular vote in 4 of the last 5 presidential elections. The only election won was the re-election of a sitting president (Bush in ’04) during a time of war. Not only are these geniuses still in charge, these geniuses seem to believe that disenfranchising 25% of Republican primary voters (Trump’s support in the most recent national poll) through elite shenanigans is a smart strategy.

Check out how that worked for Alan Keyes.
Handcuffed and arrested for attending a GOP Presidential debate he was invited to. Alan Keyes had mopped the floor with those midgets in previous debates and was Bum Rushed for his success.
Well, I hope. But doubt it.
I’m supporting Trump at the moment. I first looked at Perry, then Cruz, then Perry again, and now Trump.
Cruz is a great lawyer, but the Republican Primary is as good as it gets for the guy as he lacks crossover appeal and picks up less of the “lesser evil” vote than other candidates in the race.
I haven’t said Trump is no good (far from it) but I do think he has problems with women. Most women are going to ignore it and are going to judge the guy on his economic stances, which will greatly benefit them, everyone they know, and give the country a future.
Of course you can and you can even persuade people to eat it and like it.
The RNC is playing checkers. Trump is playing chess.
They are brothers don' you know that. HGWB says he is an adopted son and GW says he is my new brother. This would be funny if it were not true unfortunately it is true.
Excellent post.
finally, I would say California would be a toss up between Trump and Hillary.
I’ve dared to think that, too. She has such negatives. Non leftist Dems could be brought to his side.
I like it. Hell, let him keep his precious exclamation point.
Jeb?!
I like that idea and wouldn’t put it past Trump to do something like that. Look at how fast he was able to change venues in AZ.
Even RINOs aren’t this stupid. I think.
My candidate, Ted Cruz, is not politically correct. But, he is electable. I love Trump, but, not sure he is electable. I think he is clearing the mine field for Cruz to walk through to the nomination.
You’re right. They have sought a situation where, no matter which party wins, they will maintain their power and influence. And they have largely achieved that goal.
